Welcome to Our Doctor Li-Chen Natural Fertility Program

Dr. Li-Chen's Natural Fertility Program centers on a thorough mind/body assessment of the patient and the use of regular acupuncture and cupping therapy treatments. Additional elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and advanced medical technologies may be recommended to the patient, tailored to their individual needs.

The program aims to treat infertility by enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal itself and provide a nourishing environment to aid conception, pregnancy, delivery, and recuperation. The program also involves the dedication, care, and healing energy provided by a team of medical specialists who are exceptional in their expertise and experience.

Dr. Li-Chen's Natural Fertility Program was designed by Dr. Diana Li and Dr. Franklyn Chen, combining acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. As a result, over 283 babies have been born in Nova Scotia alone. With over 30 years of clinical experience, including presenting the clinical research paper "Acupuncture for the Cure" at an international conference in 2006, both doctors have become renowned for their success. This program can be used alone or in combination with IVF to increase the chances of pregnancy.

Program Outline

  • Enhanced Treatment Plan

    • No Western fertility methods are involved

    • Only  Dr. Li-Chen Fertility Program is used, centered on acupuncture (including cupping therapy) and elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine as indicated    

    ​

    Program A
    For females and males under the age of 30 with no other medical conditions
    L-C Basic Acupuncture Treatment Plan (5-Month Protocol)

    • Cycle One – three acupuncture treatments per week for seven treatments

    • Cycle Two – two acupuncture treatments per week for seven treatments

    • Cycle Three – one acupuncture treatment per week for seven treatments

    • Maintenance - one acupuncture treatment per week until the end of the fifth month

    Program B
    For females and males under the age of 30 with other medical conditions and females and males aged 30 and over with or without any medical conditions.
    Program B is also highly recommended for older fertility patients, patients who suffer from chronic illnesses and patients with a history of miscarriages.
    Dr. Li-Chen Comprehensive Acupuncture Treatment Program (5-month protocol):

    ​

    1. First Course of Treatment

    • Month one – 3 times per week

    • Month two – 2 times per week

    • Month three to five – 1 time per week

    • Month six – no treatment

    At the end of six months, if the patient has not conceived, a second course of treatment is usually recommended depending on their overall condition
     

    2. Second Course of Treatment (if required)

    • Month one – 3 times per week

    • Month two – 2 times per week

    • Month three to five – 1 time per week

    • Month six – no treatment

    If fertility and pregnancy have not been achieved at this time, the Program will be re-evaluated based on the patient’s overall condition and Western fertility treatments including Western drug therapies, in conjunction with the Dr. Li-Chen Natural Fertility Program may be recommended. In some cases it takes a combination of treatments to achieve a healthy pregnancy.

    *Note: Most often success occurs between months four through six. Therefore, patients are encouraged to be patient, relax and enjoy the Program.

  • Dr. Li-Chen Fertility Programs A or B and Western drug therapy combined.

    ​

    1. Before the Commencement of Western Drug Therapy (i.e. Clomid)

    • Dr. Li-Chen Basic Acupuncture Treatment Plan (3 months)

    • Cycle one – 3 treatments per week for Month One

    • Cycle two – 2 treatments per week for Month Two

    • Cycle three – 1 treatment per week for Month Three
       

    2. During Drug Therapy

    • Repeat L-C Basic Acupuncture Treatment Plan (3 months)
       

    3. After Conception

    • The patient undergoes Dr. Li-Chen Pregnancy Care Program (weekly treatments)

    • The program is designed according to doctor’s recommendation, Program assessment and individual patient needs

  • Dr. LI-Chen Natural Fertility Programs A or B and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)/ Embryo Transfer combined.    

    ​

    1. Before Commencing an IVF Program
      Dr. Li-Chen Basic Acupuncture Treatment, three cycles of L-C Basic Acupuncture Treatment Plan is recommended for patients to strengthen overall immunity, balance organs and organ functions (in particular the reproductive organs)
       

    2. During the commencement of IVF and Before Egg Retrieval
      Dr. Li-Chen Basic Acupuncture Treatment over an approximately 4-week period
      (Different patients react differently to Western Drug Therapy and may need a different treatment schedule.)
       

    3. After Egg Retrieval and Before Implantation
      2-3 treatments to relieve pain in the reproductive canal (due to egg retrieval procedures), relax the uterus and calm the mind
       

    4. After Embryo Transplant
      Dr. Li-Chen Basic Acupuncture Treatment Plan
       

    5. After Conception
      We recommend that the patient undergo Dr. Li-Chen's pregnancy care program to ensure the best start for parents and children. The program is designed according to the doctor’s recommendations, program assessment and the individual needs of the patient
       

    6. Pre Delivery
      We recommend additional acupuncture to help reposition the baby and relax the mother when a difficult delivery is anticipated.
      The Dr. Li-Chen Pre-delivery program of acupuncture is recommended for all pregnant women, consisting of 5 weeks of 3 treatments per week before the anticipated due date.

    1. Helps in positioning for a comfortable baby and ease of delivery

    2. Helps the central nervous system release muscle relaxants and release natural hormonal painkillers gradually to relieve the pain of delivery and recovery

    4. Helps balance emotions and treat anxiety and depression

    7. Post-Natal Care for the Mother

    We recommend acupuncture treatments to help mothers recuperate and rejuvenate themselves after the rigors of pregnancy and delivery. Acupuncture may also be used to assist lactation
